Luckily Nestle Flag were determined to out-do Haxby and turn up with only 8 players.
With fellow strike partner, Peter Dransfield out injured for the rest of the season, Adam was looking to add to his goal tally and steal the top scorer trophy from Dranny. Haxby got off to a good start when Stuart Baker scored with a stunning 35 yard shot into the roof of the Flag net; but as is often the case with Haxby the were soon pegged back with a breakaway goal from the Nestle Flag midfielder.
Captain Baker stepped up and rallied his troops and quickly Haxby responded and started to dominate, 3 quick goals from the Haxby frontline led to a 4-1 halftime lead.
Leading 4-1 against arguably one of the best 2 teams in the league would normally a cause for encouragement and congratulations, but in true Lions fashion the half time team talk involved lots of abuse, swearing and worryingly not one, but two pledges of physical violence towards players and also one managerial resignation.
Captain Baker quickly added his second of the game, but Haxby s nerves were unsettled by the half-time tirade, and Flag were able to pull 2 goals back. There was a fear that another famous collapse was on the cards, but luckily Cool heads were able to prevail, with Richard Wishart being a revelation in role as a make-shift right-back and Mark Godfrey controlling the middle of the park, Adam Wash was able to complete his hat-trick as Haxby were able to run out 7-3 winners and wrap up their home fixtures.
