Haxby United >> History

The Early Years.

Football in Haxby started way back in 1909, playing in Division 3 of the league up until the first world war. Between the wars, the name would change between Haxby, Haxby WMC and Haxby Fellowship. Post war, Haxby made it to the top flight in 1955. There they would stay until mid way through the 60's when they went into freefall, dropping into Division 5 in 1972.

The reserve team was started in 1978, and they won Reserve C in their debut season. This coincided with the first team's return to the top flight, finishing 4th in Division 1 in 1979. That would be bettered as Haxby came runners up in 1981-82, before being crowned Champions in 1982-83.
